Welcome to El Arrayan! What does the name mean? Well, an Arrayan is a species of tree that bears a small sweet and tart fruit by the same name. It grows in and around the region of Jalisco, México. We have our own Arrayan tree growing in the courtyard! El Arrayan means that since 2003 hundreds of people have supported us by coming back, recommending us to family & friends. Encouraging us to try flavors and combinations, daring us to cook tastier and even strange things now. Notice: ours is not Tex Mex food…The name of our restaurant implies that all the dishes you find in our menu, are Intangible Cultural Heritage declared by UNESCO for Mexican Cuisine. What is recognized is the authenticity and capacity to evolve, change from a foundation: our own traditional Mexican cuisine. Please enjoy what we do, while dining with us tonight, as much as we enjoy doing it every evening.

EL ARRAYÁN

El Arrayan is a Mexican restaurant in Puerto Vallarta with soul and intimate atmosphere. We offer a variety of authentic Mexican dishes although rare, we use the best traditional recipes and ingredients of the highest quality. If you are looking to dine in Puerto Vallarta, we are located in the heart of El Centro, just steps from El Malecon. El Arrayan opened in November 2003 and since then aim to be the best Mexican restaurant in Puerto Vallarta.

We decided to create El Arrayan, and we felt the need to highlight the authentic Mexican cuisine with unique and different dishes in a casual and friendly atmosphere with excellent service and great attention to detail. We offer a unique experience when dining in Puerto Vallarta while we serve regional cuisine from different states in Mexico, we seek food lovers from around the world.

Our décor is mad of local accents abound in Mexican art and furniture, reminiscent of the traditions and customs of the country. Terracotta, brown tones and lively Mexican pink surround the traditional central courtyard, in the center of which grows an arrayán tree.

At El Arrayan, we prepare dishes incorporating pre-hispanic ingredients such as a variety of chiles, corn, nopales, beans, squash and avocado with traditional European ingredients brought to Mexico during the conquest and that we have made them our own, like pork, beef beef and cheese, among others. All salsas and moles are homemade from scratch. The bar offers original cocktails, a good selection of regional raicilla, mezcal & tequila and also international spirits and chosen Mexican wines.

El Arrayan is also a pet friendly restaurant, with some alternative vegetarian dishes, vegan dishes and almost all of our menu is gluten free. We also offer a children’s menu and high chairs.
